It’s been an emotional time for Bob “the Cat”. Only last October (see above) he and Jimmy Tarbuck spoke at a tribute lunch to the recently-departed Sir Henry Cooper.
Bob goes back over 40 years with Sir Henry. “I had to escort him across the Channel once when I had a proper job” said Bob. “I never thought I would meet him again” but, thanks to Bob’s career as an entertainer, they became great friends.
In fact that week is a microcosm of Bob’s life:-
Wednesday – Sir Henry’s funeral
Thursday – North Wales CBI Dinner with The Secretary of State for Wales
and the Director-General of the CBI
Friday – Toasting Cricket at a Charity Lunch with Ken Livingstone and David Mellor QC Old Chigwellians FC Dinner
Saturday – Crystal Palace FC Player of the Year Willow Foundation Golf Day for Bob WilsonTuesday – Croydon Charity Ball
Wednesday – Non League Football Paper Awards Lunch

“At such times you can’t help but think back,” says Bob. There was recently a programme on TV about Sir Harry Secombe.  When Sir Harry heard Bob for the first time he wrote “this man is magic” and proposed him for membership of the Lord’s Taverners. Eric Morecambe went home and told his son he had seen a very funny man. More recently, Jimmy Tarbuck said “he always goes well”, and you can now see Bob’s Tribute to Ronnie Corbett on You Tube on www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsIcd3j4WTI
